Turning on the TV.
Looking at my social media feed. All I see is doom and gloom.
Here in Chicago, we are in a fight. A fight for what I don’t know yet.
Is it a fight to be safe?
Is it a fight to be right?
Or is that fight for power?
The latest fear images across the Internet are posted by the Chicago Teachers Union of overflowing FedEx boxes buried with the overflow from take-home kits for students in the Chicago Public Schools. The public schools send out COVID home test kits before the winter break and ask families to get them back before the school starts back up on January 3, 2022.
Any average person with 300,000 plus students in the district would expect issues with all this mail to be processed and sent out in the middle of the holiday season.
Not one to miss an opportunity to exploit a situation …
Chicago Teachers Union is inexcusable in shaming the school district for mail capacity issues for students and families’ good faith effort in returning take-home covid tests before the holiday break ends.
For an organization that touts trauma-sensitive practices, it sure looks like they are the ones causing mass hysteria and fear.
Seems like they are taking a page out of the neoliberal playbook.
“You never let a serious crisis go to waste,” our very own Rahm Emanuel one said years ago.
So what is all this jumping up and down meant to achieve?
The answer is easy. February 28, 2023.
