Eric “EK” Billups (16) a Hyde Park Academy student was executed at a bus stop on 63rd & Stony on April 15, 2026, just minutes after school let out.
He and his girlfriend were walking to the bus when a known teen offender from the same school approached, argued over a vape (“posh”), pulled a gun, and opened fire.
Eric was hit multiple times and died at University of Chicago Hospital. His girlfriend was shot in the leg and is in good condition.

6300 block of S. Stony Island on April 15, 2026, at approx. 3:23 p.m.
a 16-year-old male victim and a 16-year-old female victim were both at a bus stop when an unknown offender approached.
The offender produced a firearm and fired shots at both victims.
16-year-old male sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced.
16-year-old female victim sustained a gunshot wound to the left leg and was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in fair condition. Area One Detectives are investigating (3rd District)
