Before daylight touched Auburn Gresham, gunfire ripped through a narrow apartment building — three floors, three victims, and two teenagers executed before school could begin.

Witnesses reported hearing gunfire between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m., hours before the 7:56 a.m. 911 call that brought police to the scene.

Officers found a scene that stretched from the porch to the attic.
16-year-old Devajae “DJ” Christopher, known as “Lil Spazz,” lay dead on the second-floor porch with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
17-year-old Tamarion “Stewie” West was discovered in the stairwell above him, shot in the head and chest.
Medics pronounced both teens dead at the scene.

Police found a 21-year-old man hiding under a bed with a gunshot wound to his right arm. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition.

Meanwhile, a 13-year-old boy was found hiding and unharmed, according to community reports from Chitown Crime Chasers.
Investigators collected shell casings near a bed and couch, with blood evidence spread across both upper floors.

Witnesses saw three male suspects running from the building — one wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, and pink Jordans.

Community responder Pastor Donovan Price described the interior as “devastating,” confirming the violence spanned all three floors.
Later that morning, the Chicago Fire Department confirmed that crews transported two victims who were pronounced deceased at the scene.

No arrests have been made, and Area Two Detectives continue to investigate.

Within 24 Hours, Three Chicago Teens Were Murdered

Less than 18 hours before the Auburn Gresham shooting, 16-year-old David Mason Jr., known as “Lil Dave,” was killed on the 4100 block of West End Avenue in West Garfield Park.

Mason was standing near the sidewalk when gunfire erupted, striking him multiple times in the head, chest, and arms. He self-transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 14:51 hours on October 21.
