At approximately 1:26 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 1600 block of N. Lake Shore Drive (North Avenue Beach). At this time, no injuries have been reported. One juvenile offender was taken into custody. Charges are currently pending, and the incident remains under investigation by Area 3 Detectives.
**UPDATE** – An unattended parked vehicle’s windows were damaged when it was struck by gunfire.
A 15-year-old male juvenile is charged with:
one (1) felony count – Aggravated Assault/Discharge Firearm
one (1) felony count – Criminal Damage to Property $500-10K

North Avenue Beach in Chicago has been shut down following a disturbance that escalated into gunfire, according to the city’s police department on Friday.
Authorities stated that a large crowd had gathered at the beach on Friday afternoon when a brawl broke out. Amidst the altercation, an individual brandished a firearm and discharged it.
Fortunately, no individuals were injured by the gunfire, and no one was directly hit. Police have not confirmed if any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
As a consequence of the incident, North Avenue Beach and its adjacent waters have been closed off, while the lakefront path remains accessible. The duration of the beach closure is currently unknown, and it remains uncertain whether it will reopen later this weekend or at a later date.
Chicago’s beaches officially commenced their seasonal operations at 11 a.m. on Friday.
The indivduals commiting these crimes against the people need to be charged with domestic terrorism by the DOJ including all the adults and politicians who encourage this criminal activity … The public don’t need to be subjected to this kind of activity in public spaces …
