CHICAGO – A carload of children was shot up in a drive-by shooting at a busy South Side intersection on May 14, 2025, leaving a 4-year-old boy critically injured, as part of a violent 24-hour period in Chicago that left two people dead and several others injured, according to Chicago Police Department reports.
The shootings, stabbing, and traffic crash unfolded across the city from May 14 into the early hours of May 15, 2025.
The drive-by occurred at 7:10 pm on May 14 at the intersection of Archer and Ashland.

Earlier on May 14 at 5:07pm in the 4200 block of W. West End, a 79-year-old male, was shot in the right hand while driving. He was treated at Stroger Hospital in good condition.
At 5:16 pm in the 9000 block of S. Escanaba, a 24-year-old male, was shot in the left leg on the sidewalk. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
At 6:21 pm a homicide occurred in the 2900 block of E. 79th Street (4th District). A 21-year-old man was stabbed in the chest during a verbal altercation with an unknown offender on the sidewalk. The victim was transported to South Shore Hospital and pronounced dead.
A traffic crash involving a CPD squad car occurred at 6:36 pm on May 14 in the 5900 block of S. Racine. A 32-year-old female driving an SUV collided with the squad car, which had its emergency equipment activated, after proceeding through an intersection from a turn lane.
The woman was cited for driving without a license, no insurance, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. She was treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition for unknown injuries. The officer sustained injuries to the left shoulder and hand and was hospitalized in fair condition.
At 11:27 pm in the 10600 block of S. Mackinaw a 52-year-old man, was shot in the abdomen while in a crowd. An unknown offender fired from an alley. The victim was treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
In the early hours of May 15, at 1:13am in the 7800 block of S. Eberhart a 20-year-old female, was shot twice in the face during a street confrontation with a group of females.
An unknown male offender approached on foot, displayed a firearm, fired, and fled. The victim was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
This wave of violence follows a deadly period reported by SubX.News, spanning May 12 to early May 14, 2025, during which five people were killed and four injured in a series of incidents across Chicago, amid claims of a brewing Westside Drug War.
On Thomas Street near Pulaski, there were two separate shootings, one resulting in a homicide within 24 hours, only a few blocks away from each other in a known drug dealing area.
Later that night, a man fell on the CTA tracks on the Lake Street Train line, a drug corridor, adding to deaths on CTA property long suspected to be associated with drug use and the drug trade on Chicago’s public transit system.
