Abandoned Gas Station and Liquor Store … Fullerton and Western … 7:53 pm October 7th 2024
Anybody that knows anything about Chicago knows this intersection and how busy it used to be … you could barely get through during the day and night sometimes.
Now look … there is an abandoned grocery liquor store and an abandoned gas station right here right in the middle of this place.
Yet there’s gentrified areas to the East and gentrifying areas to the West … there are really rich people to the east of here in the Northern part of Bucktown.
But guess what … that gentrification ain’t helping these businesses.
And don’t forget build back better doesn’t seem to have helped either …
Pushing out minorities, pushing out the working class and small private businesses in the city doesn’t stimulate anything good …
Can see it right here … it actually closes businesses … this is the proof …
It’s right in front of our eyes … Or maybe it’s a lie … HiHo

John Kugler discusses the impact of gentrification on the Western and Fullerton intersection in Chicago, highlighting the decline of local businesses. He points out the closure of Peppy’s Food and Liquor and an abandoned gas station, despite the area’s high traffic and presence of wealthy residents in nearby neighborhoods like Bucktown. Kugler argues that these signs of economic decay contradict the narrative of a thriving economy, suggesting that the perceived vibrancy is superficial and the money being circulated is fake. He emphasizes that the area’s development is not benefiting the local community.
